| Description: | Ⅰ. Introduction:
The 5th International exhibition and scientific conference «The Main Trends of Development of Electric Power Industry of Turkmenistan 2011» will be held in the exhibition center of Ashgabat «Sergi Koshgi» 8 - 10 September, 2012. Ministry of Energy and Industry of Turkmenistan was established on January 26, 1995. The task of the ministry is providing electricity to the national economy and population, its exports and the construction, operation and repair of power stations and networks, development of engineering. The structure of the ministry includes state-owned electricity corporation "Turkmenenergo" concern "Turkmenenergogurlushyk and Turkmenmashingurlushyk, inistitut" Turkmenenergotaslama, State Energy Institute and the folklore-ethnographic studio. State-owned electricity corporation "Turkmenenergo" is a complex organization that provides operation and maintenance of power plants, provides centralized electricity consumers of the economy and heat in several cities. Concern Turkmenmashingurlushyk "- is a machine-building complex that provides the entire production cycle - from receipt of iron and steel castings, forged parts to the assembly and integrated testing of finished products. Concern Turkmenenergogurlushyk - carries out the construction of energy facilities. Institute "Turkmenenergotaslama" performs engineering of energy facilities projects. State Energy Institute provides training for the energy sector staff. Ⅱ. The prospects of the 5th Turkmen Energy Exhibition: The 5th International Exhibition and Scientific Conference "The main trends of development of the Power Industry of Turkmenistan" will be held on September 8-10, 2012 at the "Sergi Koshgi" Exhibition Palace. The event has already gained recognition from the industry professionals - representatives of 117 companies from 17 countries worldwide took part in 2011. Over 20 years of independence Turkmenistan became a self-sufficient, dynamically developing state. Modern Turkmenistan – is a grand building site, 2447 objects are being under construction in the country, $ 48 billion U.S. dollars investments are being absorbed, 374 new socio-economic objects were put into service in 2011 only. Large-scale projects are underway in the energy industry. The chemical and construction industry extend the range of products, fundamentally new for the country mining, metallurgical and other economic sectors were founded, the electric-power industry gaining strength. Today, the installed capacity of power grid of Turkmenistan is 4151.7 MW already, including 1792 MW, or 43.2% generated by modern gas turbines. By 2020, Turkmenistan's electricity production will amount to 27.4 billion kilowatt-hours. According to the strategy of development of the sector by 2030 the electricity production is projected to reach 35.5 billion kw / hour. To achieve the goal four gas turbine combined cycle power plants with total capacity of 1496 MW are scheduled to be build during this period. Ⅲ. The following facts and figures reflect the large-scale development of Turkmenistan power industry in recent years: ● In 2007 - commissioning of a 254 MW Dasoguz gas turbine power station. ● In February 2010, the 254 MW gas turbine power plant "Akhal" started operation in Akhal velayat near Ashgabat. ● In April 2010, the modern 254 megawatts "AWAZA" power station was commissioned in the National Tourism Area on the Caspian Sea coast. ● At the same time new power units at the Balkanabat State Power Station were opened. The Balkanabat Power Station has got two more power units to 127.1 megawatts each, in addition to the three gas turbines available. As a result, the power has tripled and now stands at 380.2 MW. According to the recently approved Turkmenistan budget in 2012, its revenues amount 74908.4 million manat, and these country's budget revenues will be generated through such important industrial sectors as oil & gas, chemistry, construction and electric power. The concept of Turkmenistan presidency in the CIS envisages 31 events to be organized in 2012, and 10 of them will be held in Ashgabat. For example, meetings of the Heads of States Council, the Heads of Governments Council and the Foreign Ministers of CIS member states Council, as well as the Economic Council of the Commonwealth will be held in Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan to host international conference on energy and food security and the 41st meeting of the CIS Electric Power Council is planned to be held in Turkmenistan as well. Undoubtedly, the 5th International Exhibition and Conference "The main trends of development of the Power Industry of Turkmenistan" will once again become a meeting place for Turkmenistan electric-power specialists and their colleagues from the CIS and other world countries. Ⅳ. Why Turkmenistan: 1. At present, the installed capacity of all power stations in Turkmenistan is 4,104 megawatts, of them 1,643 megawatts, or 40 percent are produced by gas-turbine generators. The power sector development strategy stipulates that electric power production in Turkmenistan will have been increased up to 35.5 billion kilowatt-hours by 2030. To achieve this goal three gas turbine power plants with the combined cycle with the total capacity of 1,122 megawatts are to be built in the country. 2. The effectiveness of existing steam-turbine plants will be increased significantly through fundamental. The first of the steam power units at the flagship of the domestic energy sector, the Mary power station was modernized in 2006. By 2020 the necessary work will have been completed at ten power generation units to increase electricity generation capacity as high as 645 megawatts. 3. Turkmen power engineers are planning to develop further and modernize distribution networks. Hundreds of millions of US dollars have been allocated for this purpose. Reliable and undisturbed operation of each section of this chain should be ensured through using latest engineering solutions and developments. 4. The National Program of President of Turkmenistan on the improvement of social and living conditions in villages, settlements, towns in etraps and etrap centers for the period till 2020 provides for electrification of all regions of the country, including most remote, reconstruction of distribution networks, transformer plants and construction of more than 24,000 kilometres of power transmission lines in rural areas. 5. In the future, the power grid of the country will be completely looped 500 kV overhead high-voltage lines, and 500 kV Balkanabat-Ashgabat-Mary high-voltage line have been built by 2020 that will ensure uninterrupted power supply to the eastern and western regions of Turkmenistan. A 220 kV ring power transmission line will be built to enhance reliability of power supply to the capital. The Parakhat-Pelvert-Atamurat line will be built in the near future to ensure reliable electric power supply to the right bank of the Amu Darya River. The 220 kV Mary-Tahtabazar power transmission line will be built to supply electric power to the deposits of Southern Yoloten, Gurrukbil, Garabil and increase electricity exports to Afghanistan. 6. Turkmenistan steadily enhances power export to Iran, Afghanistan and Turkey. With the view of enhancing Turkmenistan' s export potential the 400 kV high-voltage lines Mary-Mashad and Balkanabat-Gondbad will be built. New possibilities of power supply to neighboring Iran and transit to Turkey will be opened up through implementation of this project. To this end the possibility for building a 500 kV power transmission line towards Afghanistan is explored. |
